wow. it looks soo... fake. as if it's a scalemodel scene made from wax. very impressive. the sense of depth is so different.. as if it's one of those maquettes you let toy trains run through

This looks like it's from another planet. The infra red helps, but so does the slight blur (a long exposure?). Very surreal - I like it.

oh man! you have to give me some tips here... I've been trying to do IR photos with my 300D but the results are always quite terrible  I use tripod, 15 sec exposure iso 200...

what setting you use normaly?

thks :D

first of you need a very bright sun. :)
i normally set mine to f/7.1 - f/8. ISO 400. speed is around 1-2 secs.
i found it easier using Cokin P007 filter rather than R72 hoya or B+W coz it's less dense.
also wait till the wind stop blowing.

For the color, first do a shot using the filter. its gotta be all red. and use it as a custom white balance.
next use the CWB and shoot the scene. The colors are going to look awesome.
Thanks anyway for the comment :)

thks a lot for the help :D much appreciated. But I get the feeling my pictures will get too dark with those settings, guess that's why you put R72 aside...

btw, did you make any modifications on your 300D, like removing the IR filter on the sensor?

thks once more :D

yea the R72 is not for 300D.
Regarding the Ir mod, i hasnt removed it yet but as soon as i get a second body :p.....I WILL...
no problems..good luck with your IR tryout and thanks again for visiting my gallery.

wicked..
are IR filters incredibly expensive?
Reply
:iconstevenjo:
stevenjo Featured By Owner May 25, 2005
nope...unless you get Hoya or B+W...mine is Cokin and i got it for around Singapore $35.
It's good for a start. I'll definitely get a B+W IR filter if my IRs improve in some way :p
